Searchlight is based in Newhaven, which is situated on the south coast between the city of Brighton and the town of Eastbourne (both of which offer a variety of entertainment for our residents including theatre trips, cinema outings and shopping) and just across the Channel from Dieppe.
Newhaven Town offers a variety of activities for our residents, including a swimming pool, two libraries, a Business Centre where they can attend training courses, Newhaven Fort and Nature Trails, which are all wheelchair accessible.
A few miles away is Lewes, the county town of Sussex, where our residents can join the college for various courses including Computer Skills, Sculpting, Art and Life Skills.
Searchlight involves itself in local community events including the Lifeboat Fete, Fish Festival, Maritime Festival, French Markets and Art Trails, where we display our artwork and pottery items made in our own kiln.
The local bus and train services are also wheelchair accessible, making it easier for our residents to be as independent as possible.
